Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of a 50-acre Punjab Film City. According to Maryam Nawaz, the film city will be built on the site of the Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore, making it the country’s first fully-fledged, end-to-end media production project.
The film city will be equipped with modern technology, infrastructure, and resources to revitalize the film industry. It will provide state-of-the-art facilities for film, TV, animation, and digital media. The reliance on foreign countries for VFX and post-production will be minimized.
During the Punjab Assembly session, the Punjab Film Development Authority Act 2025 was tabled. The Chief Minister of Punjab revealed that modern studios, sound stages, and post-production labs will be included in the film city project. Facilities for shooting, sets, and a central lake will also be built.
Additionally, a convention hall will be established for international events and award shows. A media trade hub and a film and music school will also be part of the project, creating thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities.
Maryam Nawaz stated that the new film city will promote the fields of animation, gaming, and digital media. The film city project is a significant step towards promoting a creative economy. It will provide a platform for talent, technology, and business to come together.
Meanwhile, a police spokesperson from Mumbai has confirmed that there is no evidence against her. In a recent film, she played a key role alongside actors Jeffer Jackson and Danesh Timur.
