Iran Nuclear Deal Demands Revealed by Trump, Threat of War Looms Large
In a recent interview with PBS News, US President Donald Trump revealed the United States’ demands from Iran in ongoing nuclear talks. Trump stated that the US is only seeking one thing from Iran – a promise to not possess nuclear weapons. The US media has reported that the second round of talks between the US and Iran is set to begin on Wednesday.
Trump warned that if no deal is reached, the US will not extend the ceasefire or lift the naval blockade on Iranian waters. He explicitly stated that if a deal is not reached, war will break out, and the US has plenty of time, but they will not rush into a bad deal. If the ceasefire period ends tomorrow, Trump warned that many bombs will start going off.
Experts have said that lifting the naval blockade on Iranian waters is crucial for successful talks. When asked if Iran is still participating in the talks, Trump replied that Iran should be there, as they had agreed to it, despite Iran’s claims that they had not. Trump said that they will see if Iran shows up or not, and if they do not, it is not a problem.
Trump was also asked about the presence of ExxonMobil in the region, and if it is appropriate for them to participate in the talks. Trump replied that ExxonMobil is no longer involved in business with Saudi Arabia, they are good negotiators, and they have been there for a long time. ExxonMobil is only participating in the talks because Iran will not have nuclear weapons.
When asked about the value of Iran’s frozen assets and where they are located, Trump replied that Iran should not have nuclear weapons, and they are not negotiating over anything else. He added that the US has sent their A-Team for negotiations and has done their best.
Trump also stated that if Iran resolves the conflict, oil prices will drop rapidly. He added that if Iran does what it should be doing, it will happen. Trump also requested the release of eight women on death row in Iran.
The US Navy has taken control of the oil tanker “MT TESIA” in the Indian Ocean, according to the Pentagon. In a different development, the UK has banned US-based anti-Islam social media personality Valentina Gomez from entering the country.
Meanwhile, the Indian Chief of Defense has emphasized the importance of improving tri-service coordination to counter threats. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadolf has suggested that Iran should engage in constructive talks with the US in Islamabad.
Despite US threats, Iran has stated that the oil tanker has entered its territorial waters. The Iranian delegation has not yet arrived in Pakistan for talks with the US. US President Trump has stated that he may participate in peace talks in Pakistan if a possible deal is reached with Iran.
Belgian Foreign Minister has condemned Israel’s actions in Lebanon and also criticized the initial attacks by Hezbollah. China has expressed hope that the normal flow of ships through the Strait of Hormuz will resume soon.
The crisis is a regional issue, and it is why the Gulf countries are in direct contact with different parties on a daily basis, said Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
