The world-renowned table tennis legend Nauzhat Shukor was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural ceremony of the Karachi Table Tennis Championship. The event commenced with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, where the honorary general consul of Côte d’Ivoire, Fazal Karim Dada Bhai, officially opened the championship. Shukor was awarded a cash prize of PKR 1 million by Ali Shan Table Tennis Club and the Karachi Table Tennis Association.
The three-lakh rupee prize money Karachi Table Tennis Championship will continue until April 24. A total of 160 players from different categories will participate in the seven-day event. On the occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the World Table Tennis Day.
The details of the event are as follows: the Ali Shan Table Tennis Club and the Karachi Table Tennis Association organized a colorful inaugural ceremony at the Sindh Sports Board Complex, Nazimabad, where the honorary general consul of Côte d’Ivoire, Fazal Karim Dada Bhai, was the special guest. He officially opened the championship by cutting the ribbon. Shukor was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, along with a cash prize of PKR 1 million, presented by the Ali Shan Club.
The Karachi Table Tennis Championship will continue until April 24, with seven days of competition in ten different categories. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Karachi Table Tennis Association President, Farid Alam, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation Vice President, Mohsin Raaz, table tennis legends, Nauzhat Shukor, Rubina Shukor, Seema Shukor, Arif Naqvi, former Test cricketer, Shahid Afridi, and others.
