A two-week ceasefire between Iran and the US has brought a semblance of peace to the region, with Pakistan playing a commendable role in mediating the crisis. The Chairman of the Kashmir Council, Ali Reza Syed, hailed Pakistan’s efforts in negotiating the truce, calling it a significant and positive development.
Syed acknowledged that Pakistan’s leadership had effectively contributed to resolving the complex and sensitive conflict, which should be recognized and appreciated. He expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for constructive dialogue, leading to a permanent and sustainable solution to the issue.
Syed emphasized that war only exacerbates problems, rather than solving them. He said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts had helped to extricate the international community from a major crisis. He added that the country’s initiative would promote stability in the region and pave the way for a permanent ceasefire.
Syed expressed optimism that the current situation presented an opportunity for Pakistan to further highlight the Kashmir issue and gain maximum benefit from it. He urged the international community to play a more effective role in resolving the issue through peaceful means, particularly by pressuring India to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people.
In related news, Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich announced that Israel would expand its boundaries following the end of the war. He made the statement while laying the foundation stone for a new settlement in the occupied West Bank.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun revealed that direct talks had begun between Israel and Lebanon. Russian company Rosatom would withdraw its personnel from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran. Despite the ceasefire, Iran’s President said Lebanon would not be left to face Israeli aggression alone.
The UAE’s state oil company CEO Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber emphasized the need for the Strait of Hormuz to be opened immediately and unconditionally. Recent leaks have exposed the personal, military, and alleged secret meetings of a former leader.
