While celebrating the 22nd birthday of her elder son Aakira Nandan, Nava took a moment to share about her younger son Mark Shankar Pawanova, who was just a year old when he was injured in the school fire in Singapore. Pon Kalyan’s 8-year-old son Mark Shankar Pawanova was among the fortunate ones who survived the blaze, but was left with a damaged lung.
In an Instagram post, Nava shared a heartfelt message, expressing her gratitude to the construction workers who rescued 15 children before the firefighters arrived. She revealed that a child had lost their life in the incident, and her son was lucky to have escaped unhurt. Nava also expressed her appreciation for the bravery and selflessness displayed by the construction workers who risked their lives to save the children.
The incident occurred on April 8, 2025, at a shop house on River Valley Road in Singapore. Pon Kalyan has four children, including two from his previous marriage to Renoo Desai – Aakira Nandan and Adya – and two with Nava – Polina Enga Pawanova and Mark Shankar Pawanova.
