The situation is becoming dire as the results of the constant changes in the controller of the Boards and Universities Ministry are coming to the surface. The Karachi Matric Board, which caters to millions of students in the 9th and 10th grades, is now on the brink of disaster as the fate of these students hangs in the balance. The 9th and 10th grade exams, scheduled to begin on April 7, have been delayed due to server issues and glitches in the admission cards.
According to reports, the computerized admission card server crashed, and a private company was hastily asked to transfer the data to another server. However, despite this transfer, the server was unable to load the admission cards, leaving thousands of students without access to their admission cards.
The Inspector of Colleges in Larkana, Asif Chitto, who was appointed as the controller of the Karachi Matric Board just four days ago, is struggling to cope with the situation. Lacking experience in exam-related matters, he is unable to manage the crisis.
The Sindh Education Department attempted to appoint Chitto as the controller of the Karachi Inter Board earlier, but the employees of the board protested against the appointment of a non-professional and unqualified person as the controller, and his joining was refused. The Grand Alliance of Private Schools Associations in Sindh has requested the Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, to postpone the 9th and 10th grade exams for a week due to the admission card issues.
The association has claimed that 50-70% of the schools in the city are unable to upload their admission cards on the portal. They have stated that rectifying the possible errors in the missing admission cards and the downloaded admission cards is not possible in a day. The parents and students are worried as they are unaware of their exam centers, and the school administrators are facing immense difficulties due to the delay.
On the other hand, the Karachi Matric Board has issued a statement, stating that schools that are unable to download their admission cards can send their school administrators or representatives to the board office with their authority letters to obtain their admission cards.
In other news, the Sindh Education Department has made it mandatory for schools to keep their school vans on rent, and the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Central Information Secretary, Muhammad Hassan Khan, has requested the Sindh government to postpone the 9th and 10th grade exams for a week.
