Iran’s capital city, Tehran, has been rocked by multiple explosions, sparking widespread fear and panic among its residents. According to foreign media reports, a series of blasts occurred in Tehran and its surrounding areas on Tuesday morning, with local residents describing the previous night as the most terrifying since the outbreak of war.
Residents of western Tehran neighborhoods, including Jannat Abad, Punak, Shahran, Shahre Azadi, Tehran Pars, and Akhtabaran, reported hearing loud explosions between 2:24 and 2:26 am local time. Some residents also reported hearing the sounds of collapsing buildings. Similar reports emerged from southern areas of the city, including District 19, Mehrabad, Shahre Rah-e Ahan, Islamshehr, and Ray, where some residents reported power outages and severe shocks.
At around 2:26 am, a series of powerful explosions were reported in the Rabat Karim area, followed by reports of blasts in Nawaran and Rabat Karim earlier in the night.
Residents of neighboring provinces, including Alborz, Karaj, Gilan, Mehrshahr, Jahanshahr, Fardis, Garmdarreh, and Karadon, reported hearing the sound of explosions and some even witnessed fighter jets and air defense systems in action.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, but local authorities said an investigation was underway to assess the extent of the damage.
Iran has rejected a 48-hour ceasefire proposed by the United States, and its government has condemned US President Donald Trump’s “threatening” rhetoric, calling it an insult to the Iranian people.
The US President had earlier warned that the US was considering a plan to seize Iranian oil, and that Americans would see Iran’s major infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, destroyed.
The UAE has confirmed attacks on its oil facilities, including a major oil storage facility and a power plant, while the Iranian government has denied reports that a detained Iranian citizen in the US was the niece of the country’s top military commander, Qasem Soleimani.
The Iranian government has also accused the US of launching a failed operation to rescue a US pilot believed to be stranded in Iran. The US has denied the allegations.
Elsewhere, protests broke out in the occupied West Bank against Israeli army conscription, with demonstrators attempting to block rail services.
The Iranian parliament’s speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, shared a photo of a damaged US drone, while US President Donald Trump announced that a severely damaged US F-15 fighter jet had been rescued from Iran’s mountains.
The UAE’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defenses had destroyed 9 ballistic missiles and 1 cruise missile in the past 24 hours.
Israel’s security officials have confirmed that Israeli intelligence provided crucial assistance to the US mission to rescue the pilot.
