The Law and Justice Commission has decided to set up Women’s Facilitation Centers in the country’s judicial complexes. According to a press release issued by the Law and Justice Commission, under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, a meeting of the commission took place. The release stated that women litigants will be provided a safe and dignified environment, with legal assistance and medical facilities available at the centers. The centers will also include arrangements for mediation and family meetings linked to the courts. Special support services will be provided to women affected by violence. The Law and Justice Commission’s release stated that a national-level competition will be held for the design of the women’s facilitation centers. The meeting discussed the framework for the national design competition, which will be finalized soon. The release stated that guidelines have been issued to ensure confidentiality and protection at the women’s facilitation centers, while also proposing to provide women with multiple services at one location. The Law and Justice Commission’s release also stated that instructions have been issued to the registrars of the Supreme Court and high courts for infrastructure mapping. The Institute of Architects Pakistan will soon begin the national competition, and Chief Justice of Pakistan has directed that a transparent and merit-based approach be adopted for the selection of the design. The selected design will be considered a model for women’s facilitation centers.
