The Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Sajjad Ali Shah, has expressed concern over the urgent need for collective action to address the grave challenges posed by climate change. Speaking at a ceremony, he highlighted that the past three years have been the warmest on record globally, and that environmental impacts must be assessed before embarking on any development projects.
Justice Shah emphasized that Islamabad High Court has been actively working towards environmental protection by establishing a special Green Bench, which ensures the protection of flora and fauna. He also mentioned that the judiciary has made historic decisions in favor of environmental protection and has issued orders against deforestation and encroachment.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, at the Prime Minister’s House. The Saudi minister is expected to discuss the proposed fuel support program for motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers. Additionally, the Punjab Health Department has taken action against five doctors at Lady Willington Hospital in Lahore.
In a significant development, four foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt have concluded their critical meeting in Pakistan.
