Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious in the third match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Islamabad United, securing a 5-wicket win in a thrilling encounter played at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Islamabad United’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan, won the toss and chose to bat first, but Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers had other plans.
In the allotted 20 overs, Islamabad United managed to score 214 runs, losing 4 wickets. Yasir Khan led the batting charge with 83 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan contributed 41 runs. Kamran Ghulam scored 37, Daryll Mitchell contributed 23, and Sam Billings scored 18 runs. Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers, led by Ali Rehman, Aaron Hardie, and Imran Khalil, restricted Islamabad United’s scoring.
Peshawar Zalmi, in response, chased down the target of 215 runs, losing 5 wickets in the final over. Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris laid the foundation for the team, scoring 39 and 47 runs, respectively. However, the late-order fireworks by Abdulsamad, Michael Bracewell, and Amad Butt sealed the victory for Peshawar Zalmi. Michael Bracewell was awarded the man of the match for his 17-ball 35.
In other news, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 final will be played on May 3, with a reserve day scheduled for May 4. If the match is not completed on the reserve day, the league stage winner will be declared the champion. Multan Sultan defeated Quetta Gladiators by 5 wickets, chasing down a target of 172 runs in the 19th over.
In a separate development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that there will be no issues with the Test coaching role. PCB chief Jason Gillespie has stated that the issue has been resolved, and there will be no problems.
The owners of various franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have jointly appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow fans to return to stadiums. As a result, the winner of the match was awarded a prize of 5 million rupees, while the runner-up received a prize of 3 million rupees.
