Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Shazia Marri has expressed her disappointment and concern over the recent remarks made by the son of PTI founder Imran Khan on GSP Plus. In a statement, she said that such frivolous and irresponsible talk on sensitive issues like GSP Plus is detrimental to national interests. Marri emphasized that Pakistan’s exports and international reputation could be affected by such comments. She urged that national interests and the livelihoods of millions of people should not be sacrificed for politics.
Marri, who is the central spokesperson of PPP parliamentarians, stated that Pakistan is well aware of how to respond to Indian aggression. She reminded that former President Asif Ali Zardari had given a call for unity by saying “Pakistan khapay” (Pakistan is in danger) during a challenging time. The PPP leader pointed out that the son of PTI founder Imran Khan does not live in Pakistan, but the party and its people are here. She emphasized that the country’s reputation is precious to them, and making statements that undermine it is deeply regrettable.
Marri criticized the PTI founder’s family for ignoring the laws and courts of the country. She questioned why the PTI founder, who had supported a candidate in the London Mayor election, was now making statements against Pakistan’s interests. The PPP leader emphasized that Pakistan cannot afford to have external elements collaborate with those who conspire against it.
