Pakistan has decided to broaden the scope of its digital account, allowing foreign nationals, companies, and institutional investors to invest in the country. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, foreign citizens will be permitted to invest in the new Pakistan certificates, including government securities.
The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that the State Bank of Pakistan expects remittances to reach $41.3 billion in 2026, a significant increase from $38.3 billion in 2025. This move is expected to make Pakistan more attractive to investors, with the Prime Minister stating that broadening the digital account’s scope will provide a more transparent, secure, and favorable environment for investment.
The State Bank of Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves stand at around $16.3 billion, with the country’s total reserves approaching $21.6 billion. As of February 2026, over 900,000 digital accounts have been opened, with total investments exceeding $12 billion.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Minister of Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the State Bank, and participating banks on the success of the program. He emphasized that broadening the digital account’s scope will make Pakistan a more attractive destination for investment, with the government aiming to create a more transparent and secure environment for financial transactions.
The Minister of Finance stated that Pakistan is ready to attract investment, with the expansion of the digital account providing a secure and favorable environment for investors. Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed questioned Israeli National Security Advisor Yakov Amidror about the status of the “Iron Dome” defense system, while the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan are set to meet in Islamabad.
