Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Ali Khursheed has claimed that the provincial and federal governments have been treating the 4-year-old Karachi traffic issue like a family affair. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the MQM leader said that the MQM is the second-largest party in the province and a major force in the city’s urban areas.
As an opposition leader, this is the first time Khursheed has held a press conference, and he expressed his frustration with the current state of affairs in the province. He stated that the traffic situation in Karachi is a major issue, with accidents occurring daily, and that the provincial government needs to take immediate action to address the problem.
Khursheed also criticized the federal government for ignoring the MQM’s repeated demands for a solution to the traffic chaos in Karachi. He claimed that the MQM is the voice of the 6 million people of the province and will continue to raise its voice against the government’s inaction.
The MQM leader also accused the government of ignoring the party’s demands for a budget allocation to address the traffic issue in Karachi. He said that the government had allocated funds to other departments, but the MQM was left out.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan government has taken a significant step to mitigate the impact of the recent increase in petroleum prices on the common man. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to express his concern over the ongoing conflict in the region.
