A US Senate Intelligence Committee has grilled the US Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, over the recent Iran strike claims. However, the committee questioned why the US claimed on March 1 that a mission had been launched to eliminate Iran’s mandatory nuclear threat, only to see the threat re-emerge.
Despite being asked multiple times for clarification, Haines said it was the President’s call to determine whether the threat was mandatory or not. A committee member also pointed out that Haines had included the statement about eliminating Iran’s nuclear enrichment capability in her written response but seemed to exclude it from her testimony.
The joint statement issued by the US and its allies described the UAE attacks as an affront to sovereignty and international law.
