Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar expressed concern over the ongoing gas crisis in Mumbai and the scarcity of LPG cylinders, stating that his wife and writer Twinkle Khanna has already purchased two induction stoves. Kumar made these comments during a press conference at the BMC headquarters on Tuesday, where he was present to mark the launch of the Mumbai Clean League alongside BJP Mumbai president Amit Satam.
Kumar and his wife were caught in an unusual incident while returning home from the airport. The actor revealed that they have not faced any issues yet, but Twinkle has purchased induction ovens as a precaution. However, he added that they are not aware if the appliances have reached their home or not, but the order has been placed.
Mumbai’s households and restaurants are facing a severe shortage of LPG cylinders in recent days. According to news agencies, the crisis has been caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has affected gas supplies to India. The country imports around 60% of its LPG needs, mainly through the Strait of Hormuz.
