The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the arrest of 35 individuals, including 19 Indian nationals, for allegedly spreading false and fabricated videos on social media related to the Iran war. According to international media reports, the UAE Attorney General, Dr. Hamad Al-Shamsi, stated that the authorities discovered that the suspects were sharing false information, AI-generated videos, and provocative content that could have instilled fear and anxiety among the public. All suspects will face a speedy trial.
The UAE’s official news agency reports that the suspects have been divided into three groups. The first group consists of 10 individuals, including 5 Indians, 1 Pakistani, 1 Nepali, 2 Filipinos, and 1 Egyptian national. They shared real videos of missiles flying and being intercepted, but added voices and comments that suggested an attack on the UAE. The second group comprises 7 individuals, including 5 Indians, 1 Nepali, and 1 Bangladeshi national. They are accused of sharing AI-generated fake videos and footage of other countries’ incidents to depict the UAE as the affected area. The third group consists of 6 individuals, including 5 Indians and 1 Pakistani national. They are accused of praising Iran’s leadership and military operations and spreading propaganda in favor of Iran.
In addition, two Indian nationals have been accused of similar offenses. According to the authorities, such crimes are serious offenses under UAE laws, punishable by a minimum of one year in prison and a fine of 1 lakh dirhams.

A provincial governor in Iran stated that the attack targeted the city of Doroud in the Lorestan province. US officials have stated that the US considers the resignation of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel as a basic condition for lifting energy sanctions. Arab media reports that Hamas has expressed condolences to the Iranian people over Ali Larijani’s death.
