In a move to bring transparency to the fuel pricing system, the Lahore High Court has directed the federal government to file a response regarding a petition challenging the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products. The court took up the matter after a lawyer filed a petition against the government’s decision to raise the prices of petrol and diesel. The federal government’s lawyer argued that the prices are determined in light of the OGRA’s summary, while the petitioner’s lawyer requested the government to provide the information in writing.
Just a day prior, Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Muhammad Khan, had announced a significant increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. The prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by Rs. 55 and Rs. 55 per liter, respectively. The new price of petrol is Rs. 321.17 per liter, and the new price of diesel is Rs. 335.86 per liter.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office has issued a statement announcing that the Prime Minister will return home after meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince. Sindh Governor, Kamran Tessori, has stated that he will not remain the governor for his entire life and will not be a “deaf-mute” or “dummy” governor.
