A high-level investigation committee, led by Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Larik, has been formed to probe the recent violence at the US Consulate in Karachi. The committee has summoned all relevant officials, including DIG South Asad Reza, DIG East Farooq Langah, and SSPs Imtiaz Sheikh, Mehboob Ali, Arif Aziz, and Zubair Nazeer Sheikh.
During the clashes, demonstrators attempted to enter the consulate and pelted stones. Details of the incident were shared by SSP Imtiaz Sheikh, and videos of the violence outside the consulate were also showcased.
According to sources, the committee is examining CCTVs and police presence during the incident. Additional officials will also be summoned, and the committee is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Interior Minister within seven days.
In a related development, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian over the phone. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited Federal Minister Senator Musadik Malik, who was injured in the violence.
