Saudi Arabia has announced that it will host the inaugural and final matches of the 2027 Asia Cup, marking the first time the country will host a major football event. According to foreign media reports, Saudi Arabia, which will also host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, has secured the right to host the 2027 Asia Cup for the first time.
The Saudi authorities announced that the tournament will take place from January 7 to February 5, with the inaugural and final matches scheduled to be held at the King Fahd Sports City Stadium in Riyadh. The stadium, which has a capacity of over 70,000 seats, will also host four group-stage matches, a pre-quarterfinal, and one quarterfinal.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that the King Fahd Sports City Stadium will be the main venue for both the final and inaugural matches. The stadium will be one of eight designated locations for the tournament, with matches also scheduled to be held in Jeddah and Al Khobar.
The AFC has stated that the official draw ceremony for the tournament will take place on April 11 in Riyadh, where the schedule for the matches will be announced.
