Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that the Pakistani people and government stand in solidarity with the Iranian nation during this difficult time.
In a statement on Sunday, the Prime Minister expressed his deepest condolences over the demise of Ayatollah Khamenei, who was a spiritual leader for millions of Muslims around the world. Sharif emphasized that targeting the leaders of governments is unacceptable and a fundamental principle that should be respected.
The Prime Minister also spoke to Jordan’s King Abdullah II over the phone and discussed the rapidly changing situation in the region. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and dignity at all costs.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Defense released details of Iran’s attacks and damages. According to reports, Pakistani forces have destroyed 185 tanks, armed vehicles, and artillery guns belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime as part of their operations.
In a separate development, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced relief for postgraduate students and degree holders who entered various programs before January 16, 2023.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Allama Shahenshah Naqvi, expressed deep sorrow over the news of Ayatollah Khamenei’s death, stating that the Muslim world is in mourning. “There are no Pakistani casualties in Iran,” Naqvi added. Pakistan Rangers officials urged protesters to avoid violence and maintain peace and order.
