Actress Ashna Shah, a renowned figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry, has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, to address the issue of cruelty against animals in the province. The letter was shared on her Instagram account, where she highlighted the efforts of the CM in maintaining cleanliness, public safety, and women’s protection, but also shed light on the issue of animal cruelty that has gained no attention from the authorities.
In the letter, Ashna Shah mentioned a recent incident where a dog was seen being dragged behind a car on a main road in Punjab, with comments on social media suggesting that Maryam Nawaz was behind the cruelty. Although the CM’s involvement was not confirmed, the actress emphasized that the repeated instances of animal cruelty have created a perception that the CM is responsible for these acts. Ashna Shah also highlighted other instances of animal cruelty in the province, including organized dog fights, abuse of elephants, and animal cruelty in markets.
The actress proposed several measures to address the issue, including the implementation of laws against animal cruelty, a ban on keeping wild animals as pets, and programs to be implemented across the province. In the closing lines of the letter, Ashna Shah appealed to the CM to show compassion towards animals, following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and to set an example for the entire country, which could potentially be followed by other provincial leaders.
Meanwhile, Ashna Shah and her husband, Hamza Amin, are currently in Vienna, Austria, as they spend time with his family. The actress has been using her social media platform to raise awareness about animal cruelty and to advocate for their welfare.
The letter highlights the urgent need for authorities to take action against animal cruelty in Punjab, and Ashna Shah’s initiative has sparked a conversation about the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect. By sharing her concerns and proposing solutions, the actress has shown her commitment to making a positive impact in her community and beyond.
