A grand event was organized at the Pakistani Consulate in Houston, Texas, to reaffirm support for the Kashmiri freedom struggle on Kashmir Solidarity Day. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Houston Afzal Chaudhry said that Pakistan will continue to maintain unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom. He emphasized that the serious human rights violations in occupied Kashmir demand attention from the international community.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Consul Shazad Hassan said that the Kashmir issue is not just a regional problem but a global issue that affects the conscience of the world. He clarified that the Kashmiri people are not alone in their struggle for self-determination and that justice-loving people around the world, including Pakistan, stand with them.
Poet Ghazala Habib, Chairperson of Friends of Kashmir, paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and their struggle for freedom through her revolutionary poems. She stated that the unconditional support of the people, armed forces, and government of Pakistan for the Kashmir cause is a testament to the nation’s solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
Sikh American community leader Dr. Hardam Singh Awan said that the Sikh community worldwide stands in solidarity with the Kashmiri people and condemns Indian atrocities.
A documentary film on the illegal Indian occupation, aggression, and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir was also screened at the event, which was attended by community leaders and social personalities.
Prior to the event, special messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ahsan Iqbal were read out, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the Kashmir cause and the need to resolve the issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
The event was attended by Consul General Houston Afzal Chaudhry, Vice Consul Shazad Hassan, Dr. Hardam Singh Awan, and other community leaders and social personalities.
