Pakistan’s Prime Minister Advisor on Political Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the election code of conduct will be decided by politicians. In an interview with Geo News, he emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai will meet, following which the code of conduct will be formulated.
The Federal Minister for Communications, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, revealed that the series of meetings with the founder of PTI will begin after February 8. He stated that the meeting between the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader will take place, but the date and venue are yet to be decided.
Senator Rana Sanaullah further stated that if Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai wants to attend the meeting, he will be welcomed. He emphasized that whenever Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attends the National Assembly and Mahmood Achakzai is present, a meeting will be held.
He added that if the Opposition Leader’s position weakens before February 8, they will meet with him afterwards. Rana Sanaullah also emphasized that even if there is no confidence vote, the dialogue process will continue.
He questioned who is reluctant to engage in negotiations from October 2011 to the present. He stated that until the politicians do not sit down for negotiations, the election rules cannot be formulated. If the election code of conduct is to be formulated, it will be done by the politicians.
Rana Sanaullah expressed confidence that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inevitably included allies, party leaders, and the establishment in the negotiations. The Pakistan-Afghanistan railway project has been considered as a vital project for regional connectivity, while the two countries have agreed to increase cooperation in energy, defense, tourism, and education.
