Punjab Chief Minister Marriam Nawaz has invited citizens of Lahore and the entire province to join her at Liberty Chowk on February 7 to celebrate the Basant Festival. In a statement issued from Lahore, the Chief Minister urged the people to celebrate the festival with her at Liberty Chowk. Punjab CM Marriam Nawaz also shared a song related to the Basant Festival, titled “Guddi Lahore Di Addi.”
It is worth noting that the Basant Festival is being celebrated in Lahore from February 6 to 8, and preparations for the event are in full swing. The festival has been a significant cultural event in the city for decades, attracting thousands of people from across the province.
Meanwhile, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, has said that India’s illegal occupation is a serious challenge to the global conscience. He reiterated the support and solidarity of the Kashmiri people with their brethren who have been struggling for freedom against Indian oppression for over 70 years.
The President made these remarks during a meeting where discussions were held on interfaith harmony and religious tolerance. The meeting was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Sardar Sibghatullah Shah, the President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government.
In another development, the wife of former Prime Minister Asif Ali Zardari, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, paid tribute to the late Benazir Bhutto, saying that her vision has resulted in the establishment of a network of thousands of women. She made these remarks during an event held in honor of the late Benazir Bhutto.
The Sindh Police has said that the case of Nadeem Jamali, who was involved in a shootout with police in Arij Colony on January 6, is being heard in court. Two police officials were injured in the incident, and the accused fled the scene, leaving behind their arms and a vehicle.
According to official documents, 3,173 cases of missing persons were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by January 2026. Of these, 2,760 cases were resolved, and 970 cases are still under investigation.
