Karachi, Pakistan – Qasim-Jomart Toqayev, the President of Kazakhstan, arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two-day official visit.
Upon arrival, the President was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Noor Khan Airbase. The visit also saw the presence of Vice President and Foreign Minister, Sardar Ayub Khan, and a delegation of senior ministers and government officials.
During the visit, President Toqayev will hold meetings with President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) are expected to be signed between the two countries in various sectors.
To recall, a statement by the Foreign Office spokesperson on Sunday had mentioned that President Toqayev would address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum during the visit. The tour aimed to provide a comprehensive review of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, focusing on new opportunities for cooperation in trade, logistics, regional, and public diplomacy.
In another development, President Asif Ali Zardari stated that India’s illegal occupation poses a serious challenge to the world’s conscience. In a statement, the President emphasized the solidarity and complete unity with the Kashmiri brothers, who have been fighting for freedom against Indian oppression for over seven decades.
The meeting also saw discussions on interfaith harmony and religious tolerance.
Separately, in a statement, Saira Begum, the wife of Sufaid Beg, who went missing six days ago, expressed her gratitude to the government for the efforts made to locate her husband. The couple’s son, Sufaid Beg, had gone missing in January 2026.
Moreover, the Railway Ministry decided to resume two trains from today, including the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar and the Chamman Passenger from Quetta to Chamman. The trains will operate according to their scheduled timings.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Mustafa Kamal, who is also the convener of the opposition alliance, announced that his party will participate in the government’s proposed dialogue. Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, also welcomed the decision.
PTI Chairman, Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, expressed his desire to visit Pakistan with his brother to meet his father. However, no further information is available on this.
In another development, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification regarding the terms of reference and the duration of the inquiry into the tragic incident at the Gul Plaza in Karachi.
