Islamabad, Pakistan – The federal government has released a revised valuation of residential and commercial properties in Islamabad, leading to a significant increase in prices. According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the new rates for 5-year-old constructed residential structures have been set at Rs. 3,000 per square foot, while properties older than 5 years have been valued at Rs. 1,500 per square foot. The revised valuation has rendered the previous prices obsolete.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s wife, Begum Asif Ali Zardari, paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto, saying that her vision has led to the establishment of a network of thousands of women. The Sindh Police have stated that the case of Nadir Jamali, who opened fire on two police officers in the Areegan Colony on January 6, is being heard in court.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 3,730 cases of missing persons have been reported as of January 2026, with 2,760 cases resolved and 970 still under investigation. The Ministry of Railways has decided to resume the Jaffar Express and Chaman Passenger trains from Quetta to Peshawar and Chaman, respectively, starting today.
In a significant development, opposition leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar announced that his party, the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution, has accepted the government’s offer to negotiate. Senator Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, stated that the code of conduct for fair elections has been agreed upon by politicians.
