The City Police Officer (CPO) of Lahore, Balal Siddique, has issued directives to the owners of rooftops designated for Basant celebrations to obtain security bonds for the enforcement of Section 144. During a meeting regarding the organization of peaceful Basant celebrations, Siddique stated that no more than the permissible number of people would be allowed on rooftops. He emphasized that the implementation of the Kite Flying Act 2025 would ensure the peaceful celebration of Basant.
Siddique also announced that no motorbikes would be allowed on roads without safety radars starting from February 1. The police have a zero-tolerance policy for aerial firing and the display of arms, with strict action to be taken against those violating these rules. He further stated that legal action would be taken against those violating the Punjab Sound Systems Act 2015. Operations against the illegal flying of kites and the use of metal drums would continue.
The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved four major development projects worth over Rs 240 billion.
