Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Salmán Akram Raja expressed satisfaction on Wednesday after meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, saying that despite initial difficulties, they have managed to obtain Imran Khan’s medical report. The PTI leader, accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Suhail Ahmad Khan, addressed the media following a meeting with the chief justice.
Salmán Akram Raja stated that after days of negotiations, the current breakthrough is not satisfactory and has not brought the desired results. “The PTI’s concerns have been conveyed to the chief justice, and today’s efforts have borne fruit in the sense that Imran Khan’s report will be obtained,” he said.
The PTI leader revealed that meetings were held with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and the Attorney General today. “It was informed that medical reports of Imran Khan and his sisters will be provided,” he added.
Salmán Akram Raja further stated that access has been granted to Imran Khan’s personal physicians, while the next course of action will be decided in a meeting of the party’s political committee. The PTI has also provided the names of two private doctors who will conduct a medical check-up of Imran Khan. The party’s political committee, comprising members like Rajab Ali Khan and Mahmmad Achakzai, will finalize the plan after consulting with the opposition leaders.
In a statement, Salmán Akram Raja expressed that the medical report to be obtained today will provide insight into Imran Khan’s eye condition. “This was not our primary objective to obtain the medical report,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Shafiq Jhan, an assistant to the Punjab government for information, responded to the development, stating that if Imran Khan is recovering, he should be allowed to see his personal physicians. He added that efforts to meet with Imran Khan’s lawyers, family, and friends will continue, and today’s meetings with the opposition alliance, Tehreek-e-Insaaf-e-Azadi Pakistan, have been scheduled.
Salmán Akram Raja revealed that the PTI had filed an ethics case before the Supreme Court today and held discussions with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, his team, and the Attorney General since morning. He stated that Imran Khan was in a condition that required hospitalization, but he was taken to a hospital of his choice, not at his own will.
