Pakistan and Azerbaijan are on the cusp of finalizing a landmark $2 billion investment deal, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthen bilateral ties. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev’s special envoy, Khelif Khelifov, met with the Prime Minister, and Sharif conveyed warm wishes to Aliyev. The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan is eager to deepen its fraternal relations with Azerbaijan and stated that the $2 billion investment deal is nearing completion.
Prior to his return to Pakistan, Sharif walked alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Khyankendi. The trio discussed regional developments and bilateral cooperation, with Sharif stressing the need to enhance Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations. Khelifov praised the Prime Minister’s leadership and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support in the Second Karabakh War. The special envoy also reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s stance on the Kashmir issue and handed over a letter from Aliyev to the Prime Minister.
In a separate development, all roads leading from Punjab to Balochistan in Dera Ghazi Khan have been closed. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry stated that they stand with the Pakistani government and people in the fight against terrorism. Rescue and firefighting efforts are ongoing, with officials working to bring the situation under control. The country’s first Agri Culture Food and Drug Authority has been established in Punjab.
In a move to ease traffic congestion, Karachi’s traffic police have announced a traffic plan for today’s “Jeene Do Karachi” march, scheduled to take place at 3 pm on Sharif Faisal Street under the banner of the Jamaat-e-Islami.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Lodhran stated that 29 people were injured in the incident, while lawyers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have requested written records of the medical examination of their party’s chairman, who is currently in prison.
