Karachi, Pakistan – A series of tragic traffic accidents have left at least five people dead and three others injured in various parts of the city. According to reports, a water tanker collided with a motorbike on the Nait Jetty Bridge, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a police officer. The victims, identified as 28-year-old Gulfam Saleem and 30-year-old Ammar Sharif, were residents of the same neighborhood in Lyari.
The police have taken the water tanker into custody and arrested its driver, Jehan Khan. In another incident, two road sweepers lost their lives after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Northern Bypass Highway. One of the victims, 26-year-old Rehan Khaliq, was identified, while the other’s identity could not be confirmed. The third victim was estimated to be around 40 years old.
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist, 30-year-old Muhammad Awaiz, was killed, and his friend, 30-year-old Sharif Saeed, was injured in a collision with an unidentified vehicle near the Godam Chorangi Industrial Area. A motorcyclist was also severely injured in a car accident on Rashid Minhas Road near the Johar Chowk intersection. The occupants of the car fled the scene after the accident.
A police inspector, 45-year-old Peer Muhammad, was injured in a traffic accident on Chamra Chorangi in the Korangi Industrial Area. Separately, a worker, 35-year-old Shahid Masiha, lost his life after falling from a rooftop while working at a company in the same area.
In unrelated news, audiotapes of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary for information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, have been leaked. He has been released from the Pakistan cricket team for the remaining two matches against Australia. The French Embassy in Pakistan has expressed congratulations to Ali Akbar, a Pakistani-French man who has been awarded for his contributions as a newspaper vendor.
Meanwhile, former owner of the Multan Sultans cricket team, Ali Tareen, has been named in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) controversy. In 2003, Vivek Oberoi had accused Salman Khan of threatening Aishwarya Rai. PTI Chairman, Barrister Gohar, has issued a statement clarifying Sheikh Waqas Akram’s audiotapes.
