Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approached the Lahore High Court to seek the return of Rs 7 crore that was deposited as a guarantee in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The three-member full bench, led by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, will hear the case, with Justices Javed Zafar and Obaid Gul Khan also part of the panel.
Maryam Nawaz stated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had dismissed the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case as baseless, and after the case was closed, the Rs 7 crore deposited as a guarantee should be returned.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the MQM said that an inquiry commission should be set up under the Commission of Inquiry Act 2017 to investigate the incident. The police had registered a case against the deceased Sajid Hussain’s father on his statement, which was filed under Section 322 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
