Karachi, Pakistan – The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for the city, Arif Aziz, has confirmed that statements have been obtained from various individuals following the registration of a case related to the fire incident at the Glades Plaza. In an interview with the media, SSP Arif Aziz stated that a DVR (digital video recorder) related to the fire has been recovered, which will aid the investigation.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Karachi South, Javed Nabi Khoso, announced the completion of the search operation in the Glades Plaza on its 8th day. He stated that inquiries are being conducted regarding why the plaza’s gates were closed after the fire and why they were not opened immediately. Arif Aziz added that the process of obtaining statements from the administration officials, security personnel, and others will continue, and an investigation will be conducted to identify those responsible for the negligence and lapses that led to the tragedy.
A copy of the FIR (First Information Report) related to the incident has been obtained by Geo News. The FIR was registered on January 23. The opposition parties, including MQM’s Khwaja Asif and PPP’s Shehla Raza, are expected to engage in heated discussions in the Parliamentary Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination.
