Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Barrister Ali Zafar has stated that the country is burdened with an 80 trillion rupee debt. During a Senate session, Barrister Ali Zafar criticized the government for relying heavily on super taxes, stating that it is being run at the cost of tax-paying citizens. He claimed that the country has a debt of 80 trillion rupees, and the Parliament has failed to address pressing issues such as the economy and foreign affairs.
Barrister Ali Zafar further claimed that a new world order is emerging, where the United Nations and international laws will hold little importance. He also stated that the non-elected government is accumulating debt, and it is leading to the economic murder of ordinary citizens. The PTI Senator emphasized that the public will need the Parliament to support them, and they will gain the nation’s backing when the party’s founder returns.
In response, Minister of State Balal Azhar Qayani replied, saying that the person who has been sitting in Adiala has failed in the government, as he sabotaged the IMF program in pursuit of a seat. Qayani also stated that the PTI’s economic policies were well-known in 2018, and their leader, Asad Umar, was touted as a big economic expert. However, he failed to understand the situation even after a year.
Federal Minister Qayani further stated that the PTI has been involved in economic terrorism, and their policies are being countered by the government. He added that the PTI cannot contribute to economic stability and therefore should not create obstacles.
During the Senate session, the PTI criticized the government’s economic policies, while the opposition demanded that the House be given confidence. The session was adjourned indefinitely after the mention of the Quorum.
