The Secondary Education Board of Karachi’s Research Section hosted its annual Student’s Week, marking the beginning of a series of competitions among students. In his opening address at the Board’s auditorium, Chairman of the Board Ghulam Hussain Sohu emphasized the importance of fostering a competitive spirit among students. He urged school administrators to organize similar programs in their institutions and make it mandatory for students to practice English speeches.
On this occasion, special guests, former Chairman of the Board Fahimuddin Khan and Dr. Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, attended the ceremony along with other officials, teachers, and students. The judges, Zill-e-Huma, Moeed Tabani, and Saeed Bakhsh, played their roles, while Syed Samir Ahmed managed the event. Dr. Sharaf Ali Shah said that English is a crucial necessity in modern times. According to the judges’ decision, the first position was secured by Arooba Pervez Khan of DHA CSS Campus, followed by Maisooma Zainab of DHA CSS Campus Phase 7, and Fatima Adnan Siyal of St. George School North Nazimabad secured the third position.
Chairman Sohu distributed books as a prize to the students who participated in the event.
Separately, an incident of a group of unidentified individuals setting a pump’s staff with ropes before setting it on fire has been reported. Eight people were injured in the incident. According to the rescue officials, a post-mortem of 48 people has been conducted, while 86 are still missing. An operation is underway to retrieve possible bodies from under the debris.
