A notorious Indian gang, Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, has allegedly threatened popular Punjabi singer and music director Prateek Bachchan, demanding a ransom of 100 million rupees. According to Indian media reports, Bachchan’s close friend and fellow Punjabi singer Dilnoor received two missed calls from an unknown number on January 5. The following day, Dilnoor received another call from a foreign number, claiming to be Arjun Bishnoi, a member of the notorious gang. The caller allegedly threatened Bachchan, demanding that the ransom be paid within a week, failing which he would be killed.
The Bishnoi Gang is notorious for its involvement in extortion and murder-for-hire cases. Despite the Indian government’s efforts to crack down on the gang, it continues to operate with impunity.
The ransom demand is the latest in a series of threats against Bachchan, who has been a prominent figure in the Indian music industry for years. His hit songs, such as “Man Bhihari” and “Sari Duniya Jala Diye,” have made him a household name.
The threats have sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with several celebrities expressing their concern and support for Bachchan on social media. Pakistani actress Zainab Qayyum, for example, has spoken out about the growing class divide in Pakistani society, while Turkish actress Hande Erçel has shared a video with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
In a separate development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has called an emergency board meeting to discuss the recent controversy surrounding India’s refusal to visit Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the death toll in the Gul Plaza fire has risen to 30, with 11 bodies having been identified so far.
In other news, the wedding of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s nephew, Janid Safdar, has been making headlines on social media. The incident is the latest in a series of accidents involving Indian Air Force personnel.
