Additionally, the administrative structure of the SDF responsible for monitoring ISIS detainees and camps will be integrated into the Syrian state, after which the government will be responsible for their full legal and security responsibilities. The SDF will also nominate candidates for military, security, and civil positions in the central government. This announcement was made after US Special Envoy Thomas Burwell met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.
