Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a regional head of the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) in connection with a wheat theft scandal worth 70 million rupees, involving the disappearance of 200,000 kilograms of wheat from a storage facility in Faisalabad. According to FIA officials, a private storage facility was raided after the arrest of the suspect, resulting in the recovery of 350 bags of wheat. The officials stated that four employees of PASSCO were arrested during a raid by FIA a few days ago, and they were presented in court to obtain a five-day physical remand. The officials also stated that the arrest of the suspects led to the recovery of 1,000 empty bags of wheat from a private broker’s storage facility. The officials claimed that the arrested suspects were involved in adulterating government wheat with soil, 2,000 bags, and 4,000 bags of wheat were found to be involved in the smuggling of wheat, and further raids are being conducted to arrest the other accused.
