Pakistan is currently in crisis mode, with all opposition parties agreeing on five key points. At a press conference in Karachi, attended by leaders of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution, opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai stated that the first organization to be formed was not on anyone’s behest, and that the movement was not created out of rivalry with anyone. He emphasized that all opposition parties are united on six key points.
Achakzai also claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had previously stated that it would not be involved in the removal of anyone from power, and that Fazlur Rehman would also be included in the movement. He further stated that he would answer questions about Nawaz Sharif in the National Assembly.
On this occasion, Asad Qaiser stated that the representatives sitting in the assembly are not there for the people, and that the people’s right to vote has been taken away. He asked, “What decision can be made by a few people in their office?”
Raja Naseer Abbas stated that humans can make the right or wrong choice, and that the elected representatives of the people are not governing them. He also mentioned that the media has been gagged under the PECA Act, and that the 1973 Constitution had representation for all units. He further stated that all resources are being used for the people, and that the ministry is trying to minimize their suffering.
Sindh Chief Minister Mustafa Kamal has directed the AIG to report the progress of cases on a daily basis. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has expressed good wishes for peace and stability in the region.
