Article:
In a dramatic turn of events, US President Donald Trump has abandoned his plan to launch a strike on Iran, a decision made possible by intense diplomatic pressure from Gulf countries. According to a report by The Telegraph, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman engaged in emergency talks with Washington and convinced Trump to delay military action, giving Tehran a chance to show good behavior.
Earlier, Trump had told Iranian protesters that “help is on the way,” and just before abandoning his plan for a strike, he had stated that the casualties in Iran should not have occurred. Iranian Consul General said that the Iranian people are united against Israeli aggression and US intervention, and expressed gratitude towards the Pakistani government and people.
Trump’s decision came after Iran had already suspended its plan to execute protesters. A senior Saudi official told AFP that Gulf countries had convinced Trump to give Iran another chance through long and exhausting diplomatic efforts, warning him that the consequences of a strike would be catastrophic. Turkey and Egypt had also appealed to Trump for restraint, warning that the consequences of an attack on Iran would affect its neighboring countries and global oil prices.
According to a Western military source, Trump had told his national security team that he would only authorize a strike on Iran if it resulted in decisive consequences for the Iranian regime. Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham said that the Iran situation was far from over.
In a related development, US President Donald Trump has hailed the suspension of Iran’s plan to execute protesters as “good news.” He said that Iranian protesters would no longer face the death penalty, and expressed hope that the decision would remain in place.
In another development, Iran has reopened its airspace after tensions with the US had subsided. Trump had also said that if countries do not support US control over Greenland, he could impose trade tariffs on them, calling Greenland crucial to US national security.
In a separate incident, Brazilian viral bodybuilder, Ariendo da Silva, who was known as the “Real Popeye,” passed away at the age of 55 due to complications related to his bodybuilding career.
