Pakistan, a nation with immense potential, has been struggling to make the most of its resources. Addressing the Pakistan Policy Dialogue, Federal Minister Senator Mouood Malik shed light on the country’s financial woes, stating that Pakistan receives a 12% dollar interest rate, while in the past, 50 individuals were given 4 billion dollars at a zero interest rate. Mr. Malik questioned why the rest of the population remains impoverished, asking why these funds couldn’t be allocated to young entrepreneurs to help them establish small factories.
The Minister emphasized that in Pakistan, the path to prosperity has been reduced to mere power and influence. He stressed that true development will only be achieved when equal opportunities are provided to every citizen, allowing them to engage in productive work. Furthermore, Mr. Malik suggested that the government should refrain from offering special favors to specific groups, including subsidized electricity, gas, and tax breaks.
