Pakistan’s Privatization Board, led by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatization Muhammad Ali, has recommended the abolition of the current privatization process for House Building Finance Corporation Limited (HBL). The board made this decision during its meeting, which was chaired by Muhammad Ali. According to a statement released after the meeting, the board has suggested the abolition of the current privatization process for HBL and has decided to restart the auction of 51% of the company’s shares. The statement also disclosed that the Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company’s bid of 4.2 billion rupees was rejected, while the reference price for the company was 13.55 billion rupees.
Furthermore, the privatization board has recommended the inclusion of Islamabad International Airport in the privatization program. The board has also decided to adopt the concession model for the New Islamabad Airport, rejecting the G2G model and opting for an open bid instead. Additionally, the board has approved the appointment of a financial advisor from the Asian Development Bank and has set up a transaction committee for the privatization of Hesco and Sepco.
Meanwhile, police have arrested over 30 employees involved in the protests, and one police officer was injured during the clashes with the protesters. The police have also lodged a case against the arrested lady constable, who has been suspended. According to reports, several developmental projects were inaugurated in the Old City area, including a track for the road leading from Peoples’ Chorangi to Quaid’s Mausoleum and another track for the road leading from Khuddad Colony.
