The federal government has decided to retain the basic electricity tariff across the country. According to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the maximum tariff for household consumers is proposed to be retained at 47.69 rupees per unit. NEPRA has suggested retaining the tariff at 10.54 rupees for consumers using up to 100 units, 13.01 rupees for those using between 101 and 200 units, and 22.44 rupees for consumers using up to 100 units without protection. For consumers using between 101 and 200 units without protection, the tariff is proposed to be retained at 28.91 rupees per unit. NEPRA has also suggested retaining the tariff at 33.10 rupees per unit for consumers using between 201 and 300 units, 37.99 rupees for those using between 301 and 400 units, 40.22 rupees for consumers using between 401 and 500 units, and 41.62 rupees for those using between 501 and 600 units. For consumers using between 601 and 700 units, the tariff is proposed to be retained at 42.76 rupees per unit. The tariff for consumers using more than 700 units is proposed to be retained at 47.69 rupees per unit.
The tax will be added to the slab rate, increasing the price of the tariff per unit. According to NEPRA, the tariff for household life line consumers using up to 50 units is proposed to be retained at 3.95 rupees per month, and 7.74 rupees per month for those using between 51 and 100 units.
