Pakistani nationals have been making a beeline for foreign employment opportunities in recent years, and the latest statistics from the Bureau of Emigration reveal a significant increase in the number of individuals seeking work abroad. According to the Bureau’s data, a total of 7.6 million Pakistanis left the country in search of employment in 2025, a substantial rise from the 7.2 million individuals who sought foreign employment in 2024.
Breaking down the numbers further, the data shows that 5,659 accountants and 10,503 cooks left Pakistan in 2025. A total of 3,795 doctors, 5,946 engineers, 1,640 nurses, and 1,725 teachers also made the journey abroad in search of employment. The Bureau’s data also reveals that 1.3 million drivers, 6,475 electricians, 4.65 million laborers, and 5,700 skilled artisans left Pakistan in 2025.
The statistics also highlight the vast number of professionals who left the country in search of employment. A total of 12,703 technicians, 11,777 managers, 2,306 plumbers, 2,27 painters, 18,352 individuals with higher education, 13,657 extremely skilled professionals, 2.22 million skilled individuals, 42,257 semi-skilled workers, and 4.66 million unskilled workers left Pakistan in 2025.
According to the Bureau’s data, the majority of Pakistani individuals who left the country in search of employment went to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom. A significant number of individuals also went to Germany, Italy, China, Japan, and Romania.
The Iranian government has issued a warning to Pakistani nationals residing in the country, advising them to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel. The two countries have also reaffirmed their commitment to security cooperation.
