The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the visit of Israeli Foreign Minister to Somaliland, calling it a blatant disregard for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
According to a statement issued by OIC Secretary-General, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Israeli Foreign Minister visited Hargeisa, which is internationally recognized as the capital of Somalia. The visit is seen as a clear violation of Somalia’s self-determination and territorial integrity, and OIC Secretary-General has emphasized that any communication without the consent of the Somali government is illegal and contrary to the principles of the United Nations.
Taha also stressed that OIC stands in support of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and urges the international community to take action to prevent any actions that may harm Somalia’s self-determination. This comes as a significant development in the ongoing tensions between Somalia and Israel.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry has accused the US of meddling in Iran’s internal affairs and spreading misinformation. In a statement, the ministry said that US statements are not intended to show solidarity with the people, but rather to fuel unrest and violence.
In a separate development, Chinese Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, visited Israel and Ramallah, while Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the release of its citizens. US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the expected second military operation against Venezuela.
In a diplomatic move, Bangladesh’s interim government suspended visa services for its diplomats in India, citing security concerns. Trump said that major oil companies will invest at least $100 billion in Venezuela.
In a message to the Iranian people, Trump emphasized the importance of unity and encouraged citizens to stand together. The meeting between the US and Iran is likely to take place in Washington.
In a separate development, Turkey’s possible inclusion in the Pakistan-Saudi defense alliance is under discussion, and a deal between the three countries is likely to be reached soon.
