The United States Embassy in India has issued a warning to Indian students studying in America, cautioning them about the severe consequences of violating laws. In a statement posted on X, the US Embassy said that disobeying US laws could result in the revocation of their student visa. The Embassy further stated that if a student is arrested or found guilty of breaking any law, their visa could be canceled, and they could be deported from the country. Furthermore, they may be barred from obtaining a US visa in the future.
The warning comes at a time when a video of a Indian student being handcuffed at New York’s JFK Airport went viral last June. According to reports, the student was arrested for entering the country without a valid visa, and was subsequently deported.
The US Embassy also clarified that a US visa is a privilege, not a right.
