Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has stated that if the talks have reached the level of the “powerful five,” then it should not be considered. In a media talk at a park in Rawalpindi’s Dhaavel Nagar, Barrister Gohar stated that the five powerful individuals cannot and do not need to hold meetings. He further said that if meetings are not granted, then how can negotiations take place? The PTI Chairman presented the statement made about begging for meetings in a distorted manner.
Barrister Gohar Khan was asked questions about practically side-lining him by Salman Akram Raja. PTI Chairman further stated that what he meant to say was that even if the court rulings, SOCO operations, and jail laws are not followed, if meetings are not granted, then it is begging.
He mentioned that for the past month, PTI members have been visiting the Chief Minister’s office every Monday but returning without a meeting. The meetings have been made contentious, and he questioned where this would lead to. The PTI Chairman emphasized that they have been trying to find a solution to stabilize the situation.
In a related development, PTI has requested permission to hold a rally at the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi. Barrister Gohar Khan stated that even Imran Ismail had called him, and he told them that they would not be participating in the event. The PTI Chairman expressed concerns about the party’s participation in the conference.
Barrister Gohar Khan mentioned that holding meetings between the party and the government is essential to stabilize the situation. Those who are trying to contribute to stability should be praised. He emphasized that the laws and court rulings are in place, but meetings are still not granted. If meetings are not granted despite court rulings, then it is begging.
