Lahore, Pakistan – In a concerted effort to maintain law and order in the city, the Lahore Police launched a crackdown on crime syndicates, vandalism, and air gun fire. According to Dolphin Police spokesperson, a total of 77 suspects were arrested from various areas of the city on the day of the operation.
Commissioner Lahore Division, Maryam Khan, stated that aerial firing will not be allowed in Lahore before February 6. The spokesperson revealed that 70 suspects involved in vandalism were arrested from Defence, Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road, Band Road, and other areas. Seven suspects arrested from Factory Area and Shera Kot were involved in aerial firing and kite flying.
The spokesperson added that three pistols, kites, and a door were recovered from the possession of the suspects. SP Dolphin Akhtar Nawaz assured that operations against kite flying, vandalism, and aerial firing would continue without any discrimination. He said that the citizens’ lives would not be put at risk.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered a dialogue with opposition leaders, saying he is willing to give them a chance to prove themselves and restore public trust. Rana Sanaullah, the acting advisor, said that the government would not resort to force or intimidation, as per the UN Charter.
In other news, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) demoted a 16th-grade officer to the 14th grade due to allegations of smoking in the office and deleting CCTV footage. A woman and her child were kidnapped by a suspected abductor who posed as a doctor to gain their trust and took the child from the hospital ward.
Maryam Nawaz said that the doors of their hearts are open to all, and patients from other provinces are being treated in Punjab’s hospitals. Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Mamani stated that the propaganda network of the enemy has been activated again. He claimed that Israel and the US were inciting elements to create unrest in Iran through social media.
In a separate incident, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government reduced the prices of diesel, and a new transportation fee schedule was issued. The Transport Department of Peshawar announced a 50% concession for students and special persons.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Bangladesh High Commission and condoled the death of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. A case was registered in Karachi against the procurement of explosive materials in the Risala Goth Municipal Corporation. The Punjab government approved a policy to ban honors and take strict action against those who make anti-state statements.
The funeral prayer of the deceased will be offered in Lahore on the day of the funeral prayer.
