According to the police, the accused, who posed as a groom, took the woman to a village and got her married in a fake ceremony. After the wedding, he allegedly gave her intoxicating sweets and then made her unconscious. When the woman regained consciousness, she found that her “husband,” his brother, and the woman who had arranged the marriage were nowhere to be found.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 1.15 lakh from the woman as dowry and Rs 20,000 as nikkah charges. The police have registered a case against the accused, the woman, and her alleged brother, Omar Hayat, and Shahida Parveen. The investigation is underway, and the police are determined to catch the fraudsters.
