Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Chief Whip Malik Ameen Dogar has suggested that a meeting of the five mainstream parties could help resolve the current political impasse. Speaking on Geo News’ program “Capital Talk,” Malik Ameer Dogar urged politicians to keep the doors of politics open and engage in dialogue to address the country’s issues.
Dogar proposed that the government should arrange a meeting between the PTI’s founding leaders and its allies, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and PML-N, to build trust. He also emphasized the need to end the character assassination campaign against state institutions.
Rana Sanaullah, the Minister of State for Political Affairs and PML-N leader, agreed with Dogar’s suggestion, saying that social media accounts used to launch campaigns against institutions should be banned. He added that Rana Sanaullah should take the lead in creating an environment conducive to dialogue and allowing PTI leaders to meet with the founding members to discuss the facts on the ground.
In a separate development, a police shootout in the suburbs of Rawalpindi killed four robbers. The courts have summoned witnesses in the case and asked the public to submit their requests to expedite the trial of the cases related to the 9th of May incidents.
In Karachi, police arrested two robbers following a shootout in the Orangi Sector 9 area. The severe fog in various parts of Punjab disrupted daily life and forced the closure of multiple motorway sections.
