A young girl, detained by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), has revealed that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had contacted her and attempted to brainwash her into carrying out a suicide attack in Karachi. The CTD’s swift action thwarted the terror plot, and the girl was rescued before she could be used as a human bomb.
The girl, who was being transported from Balochistan to Karachi on a bus, was stopped by the police during a snap check and later taken to a police station. During interrogation, she revealed that the BLA had used social media to spread false propaganda against the state and had been attempting to recruit her for a suicide mission.
The CTD’s Additional IG, Ziaul Haq, said that the BLA had contacted the girl through the internet and had attempted to brainwash her into carrying out a terror attack in Karachi. He added that the girl had been rescued before she could be used as a human bomb, and that her parents should be vigilant about their children’s online activities.
The girl, who was not named, spoke to Geo News and revealed that she had been contacted by the BLA through a messaging app and had been asked to join a group. She said that she had been taken to Karachi and was being prepared for a suicide mission when she was stopped by the police.
The BLA’s attempt to recruit and brainwash the girl highlights the risks of online radicalization and the need for parents and authorities to be vigilant about the activities of young people on social media.
